Hello, I'm Letitia and welcome to the Travel Expert Show. I am solo today, however, you will still receive the same helpful tips that will help you with your travel or your travel planning. So today's episode will discuss many hidden fees that sneak onto your bill that you may not be aware of, which can dampen your long-awaited vacation. So again, this show will be about the hidden travel fees that could ruin your trip. So uh number one is checked baggage fees. Now, if you think about it, I mean that can help you with your I guess uh packing because if you know that there's additional baggage fees for depending on how many bags and the weight and things of that sort, you you'll pack lighter, you won't overpack. So, and then that will save you money from having to spend on those additional baggage fees. It's good to know that before you even arrive at the airport. Also, um, printed boarding pass fees, which is, I mean, that that's just crazy. I mean, because I printed my boarding pass, that's uh that's a fee. But I guess because they they're trying to save their environment, which is good, um, they don't want to waste paper, you can always and then you can always use your mobile phone to download your boarding pass. So, you know, you don't you don't need to have that printed boarding pass and have to try to keep up with that paper so that you don't lose it and things of that sort. Also, foreign transaction fees, um, that tends to help uh go towards whatever uh country you're you tend to travel to. Um, sometimes that country may have a different fee. So they and it will be applied to however you're traveling there. So whether it's a cruise or if there is um if you're going you know by plane, things of that sort. So and the country charges an additional fee to whomever you're transported there by, then of course that that fee is going to be passed on to you. Then there's also resort fees. Resort fees, you know, that that depends on like if you're if you're staying at like um, for instance, a sandals, they may have a fee because they're they're a resort, so there's extra fees that they may add to your um you know to your your trip and your planning and things of that sort. Um with a cruise ship, there's gratuities. Uh so you know, it's not necessarily, you know, everything is all, oh, it's it's uh everything on the on the um cruise ship is free. Or you know, you may have like specialty drinks that you may have to purchase a separate um separate package, you know, where all inclusive, but still, those hardworking uh team members that are working on that that um that cruise ship, you know, you definitely want to have give give them tips and routinities and things of that sort. Uh so those may be hidden within your bill. Um vacation rental cleaning fees, uh that falls into like things such as like the Airbnbs, those type of things. Um of course they once you leave their their uh facility, you know, they have to have a company come in and clean the rental, so that that that uh fee will be passed on to you. And then which the craziest thing, there's also fees for carry-on luggage, which you're thinking because I'd be thinking the same thing, but I'm I'm handling the luggage myself, I'm carrying it onto the plane or the train, so why am I being charged? But sometimes you know, the I guess just having it stored in the space, you know, you're you're being charged for that as well. So um, as I said, you know, these are hidden fees, so that sneak onto your bill. You definitely don't want it to ruin your trip. So it's always good to know about these fees.
